When I first started growing fuchsias in 1986 or so, I was
very fascinated by the winter hardy varieties, such as the magellanicas,
and when I one autumn left a bedded plant of Preston Guild outdoor for the
winter and it survuved and grew happily the next summer, I realized that
I dared extend the tests on winter hardies. In other words, Preston Guild
seems to be very winter hardy. It is not mentioned as such in the books
I have so I assume few people try it as a hardy. But do!

Preston Guild
Preston Guild - Thornley 1971 GB B S white blueviolet
The flowers are small but very profuse and the growth is strong, upright
and selfbranching.
The colours are clean white and a lovely blue, anthers are clearly red and
the pistil white. Beautiful colouring.
With me Preston Guild sometimes has a problem with not being able to open
its flowers. Does anybody know why? Please E-mail
