Fuchsia inflata is a tuberous, apetalous species from Peru which usually grows from rocks, or epiphytic on trees, in its native
habitat. It is endemic to several valleys on the eastern slopes of the Andes at elevations near 3,000 meters (10,000 ft) where it flowers principally in the dry season, from June to August, the southern hemisphere winter months. (Description based on Paul E.Berry, Ann.Missouri Bot.Garden, 72:213-251, 1985)

I took this photo of one of my plants on October 25, 1996 in Eureka, California. Two weeks later these flowers had matured with sepals recurving slightly outward, confirming there are no petals. The tube and sepals are 13 cm (5 in.) long and the pistil extends one inch beyond the tips of the green sepals. A ripening berry on another plant is orange in color. -
