To Fuchsia Species Enthusiasts!

"...What I saw made everything worthwhile, I could not contain my excitement. Sticking out of the grass was one single flower, the main reason for going to Ecuador, F. insignis, in all it's glory. People must have heard my whoop of joy all over the Andes. This rare species has only
been found three times since it was first discovered....."

These sentences I (H. Eggenberger) read last Sunday with interest in a 'report of Ecuador
1993', found in a new bi-monthly journal 'Species World'. Vol.1 of this journal is published April 1996 by Fuchsia Search International. The editor is Dave Green.

D. Green made expeditions to Ecuador and Bolivia. Peru and other countries are on the list for the next years. He means, that because the deforesting in South America, an effort is needed to find all Fuchsia species, or some of all may be lost to cultivation for ever.

D. G. "With your help, when you subscribe to this journal, a better understanding of the genus Fuchsia may be at hand".

Journal No. 1 contains on 48 b/w pages articles like: Notes on species, Evolution of the species, South America in South London and others. There is also a complete description of the Section Hemsleyella

In my opinion a very interesting journal, also readable for amateurs. A must for all Fuchsia species enthusiasts.
