I will eventually write about my own experiences with pests but being a very postive person I am reluctant to do it. "Pests don't exist" some kind of psychological phenomenon...MostlyExternal links to PESTS, mainly from Ohio State University

How to Treat Fuchsia Gall Mite (Kathryn Lewark)
Short about Fuchsia Mite (The Fuchsia Lady)
Some general causes to the problem "brown spots on the leaves" on Fuchsias (and other plants...)
.......and with "general" I mean what people (not necessarily you...) do to cause (yes "cause" because it's usually our own fault...) problems to fuchsias :
A) The plants are brought out in the open air too abruptly. The foliage developed inside, be it a greenhouse or just a house, is too tender to withstand Mother Nature's whims. Glass doesn't let through ultra violet radiation, so leaves get sun burned, just as we do, if not gently hardened off in spring. Plants should be put outside in THE SHADE, for at least two weeks before exposed to any sun at all. If nights are cold you should even take them in at night during the first week since they are not used to the fluctuations in temperature either. - If this hardening off is not done, brown, dry tips and spots on the leaves appear (sun burn or drying out from winds or "cellular burst" i.e. cells burst due to temperature fluctuations)
B) To get fuchsia plants to sprout in spring, people water them (=drown them) because they think water will encourage new shoots and roots. After the winter rest, no white, 'water-sucking' (I don't know the proff. name for them) roots are left. If the plants are given too much water at this stage the roots rot. A sign of rotting/drowning roots is that leaves get brown, dry tips and edges and go limp and also take on a darker blueish-green hue.
Also after repotting (not potting up!) one has to be very restrictive with watering since the brown roots remaning after winter rest, can't absorbe any water. One has to wait till the brown/black roots produce the white ones. I have myself killed lots of plants by overwatering them at this early stage of the year.C) The soil/compost might be too compact which causes the same as above - suffocation!
D) Spider mite could give dry leaf edges and withering branch tips.
E) All summer through I have problems with capsid bugs. I have been told it's a huge group of sucking insects. They can be black, brown or green. I recognize some species of them and I kill them as soon as I see them. The problem is they are so quick I miss them. They fly rapidly from growing tip to growing tip. They look like an ordinary aphid, more or less, but are 2-3 times as big.
(See picture of Capsid Bug here)
(Picture of Capsid Bug damage)
The damage they cause is not seen until weeks later. They suck from the very tip of the growing tip and the "leaf-embryos" become perforated and deformed when growing out. The leaves have holes in them and become crinkly. Buds drop.
The only cure I can think of is some kind of systematic poison that goes into the plant and kills the bug, but unfortunately they'll probably do the damage before they are killed. ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME!
