Fuchsia coccinea

Soland 1789. Brazil? Slenderly branched bushy shrub which will grow to about 3 ft. A narrow, ovate leaf with paler underside, has some hair along main veins, leaves produced at times in threes. The flower is solitary in the upper axils and has a red tube and sepals with violet to purple corolla. Assessed by Munz to be probably of Brazilian origin, though when presented to Kew by Captain Firth was thought to have come from Chile.
