the average (n.b.) temperature for

January is officially -3C ( +27F)
and for July it's +15C (+59F)
We have spells of -20-30C (0--20F), sometimes for weeks on end.
In summer we also have long periods of +25-+35C (+75-+90F).
Our first frost is usually around mid October and there is normally no frost after mid May but we occasionally have some frost nights the first week in June. (Our "Iron-nights")

The winter of 1995-96 has been the coldest for ages. The temperatures fell below freezing point (0 C) in mid November and we have had below freezing, day and night, till now, mid March. Hardly any snow (an inch or so) to protect our gardens so this is going to be an interesting (?) spring. The ground frost is 1,7 meters! What has survived? Wish us luck!
1992 my crocuses bloomed on Feb 2, today March 24, they aren't even putting up their green heads. Horrors!
March-April are usually the real spring months with crocuses, scillas and tulips, May is balmy and flowery with an occasional frost night.

Farenheit - Celsius

Or to be more exact:

F = (C x 1,8) + 32

C = (F - 32) / 1,8

Does that help a bit?

To us Europeans it's very strange that water freezes at +32 degrees..... +32 with us is a very balmy day???

Vive la petite difference!!!
