Bon Accord Crousse - 1861 F B S white pink (syn. Erecta Novelty (in USA) as far as I know - Kenneth)
Single. One of the most unusual cultivars in cultivation.
Bon Accord is far from ordinary, in as much as its delicate blooms stand
out erect in contrast to any typical fuchsia flower. This charming cultivar
was raised by the Frenchman Crousse in 1861. Single flower, the tube and
sepals are waxy, ivory-white and the corolla of a delicate pale purple,
suffused white, exceptionally free-flowering and small in size. Growth is
bushy and very upright, in fact when grown cool, is stiff and strong. Bon
Accorde is not self-branching and when grown under glass, needs frequent
pinching, especially in the early stage of growth; if left to its own device,
will quickly become leggy.
When grown as a bush plant, needs only a central stake and like most fuchsias
responds well to feeding, especially with potash whilst in bud and flower.
Bon Accorde did find its way over to America many years ago and was sent
back to England as a new introduction, under the name of Erecta Novelty.
Bon Accorde is a cultivar which should be in every fuchsia collector's selection.
