Fuchsia apetala
(syn F. insignis)

Native to Peru, Venezuela and Ecuador

Picture from "Verein für Hobbygarten, Fuchsien und Freizeitgestaltung" in Österreich . They published a plea for identification and I tried but without success, so I sent the question to "my" fuchsia species specialist Chuck Hassett in Eureka California who in turn sent it to Paul Berry "the fuchsia species guru" and they came up with - Fuchsia apetala

According to Boullemier:
"Belongs to the Hemsleyella Section. ...Vine-like shrub up to 3 feet. The first fuchsia without corolla to be described. Is now considered to be lost to cultivation..."
